The NASA ORBIT Challenge wants to connect students with opportunities that can help turn their interest in aerospace into meaningful academic and professional experiences. This page highlights scholarships, fellowships, internships, and other programs that can help students continue their education, build their networks, gain hands-on experience, and take the next step toward a career in aerospace and related fields.
The Patti Grace Smith Fellowship helps talented Black undergraduate students build pathways into successful careers in aerospace. Fellows gain meaningful professional experience through paid summer internships with leading aerospace companies and organizations, while also becoming part of a supportive community of students and professionals across the industry.
In addition to their internship experience, Fellows receive personalized mentorship from aerospace leaders and early-career professionals, professional development opportunities, and a cash grant of at least $2,500 that can support tuition, school fees, or other resources needed for academic and career success.
The Brooke Owens Fellowship provides exceptional undergraduate women and gender-minority students with opportunities to build their careers and become leaders in the aerospace industry. Fellows are connected with leading aerospace organizations and gain hands-on professional experience while developing relationships across the space and aviation community.
Each Fellow is also paired with executive and alumni mentors and participates in professional development, networking, and community-building opportunities. The program is designed to help students expand their professional horizons, strengthen their leadership skills, and join a lifelong network of peers and mentors working throughout the aerospace industry.
